Biz News: Lynda Early is Hoag’s nurse of the year

Lynda Early, a registered nurse who works in fetal diagnostics, is Hoag Hospital’s 2014 nurse of the year, according to a news release.

A 14-year employee at Hoag, Early was recognized for “her expertise, diligence and compassion as a mentor for the entire nursing staff.”

“She exemplifies all the qualities of caring, compassion and professionalism we see on a daily basis from all of our staff, and which is acknowledged by our patients and physicians,” Rick Martin, senior vice president and chief nursing officer of Hoag, said in a news release.

Early is also active in the March of Dimes, which works to reduce birth defects.

Partner named a top woman lawyer

A partner at Costa Mesa-based Rutan & Tucker has been named one of California’s top women lawyers for 2014 by the Daily Journal, a legal newspaper.

Maria Stearns was honored in the Journal’s pages and at a reception at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. Stearns, who specialize in labor and employment law, is Rutan’s youngest female equity partner, according to a news release.

Stearns graduated in 2002 from Harvard Law School, where she founded the Harvard Law School’s Women’s Alliance. She is also a board member on the Orange County Bar Foundation, which serves at-risk youth.

Mortgage company adds personnel

RPM Mortgage Inc. has hired five loan advisors to its Newport Beach and Huntington Beach locations and opened a new office in San Juan Capistrano.

Added to the Newport office were Jay Carr, John Baron and Kevin Rudrud. Chris Brown was hired to manage the Huntington Beach office. The San Juan Capistrano office, which is led by manager Michele Town, was opened in March with the addition of loan advisor Stanley Christie.

Insurance agent recognized

A Costa Mesa insurance agency operated by Moe Kajeh has been named an Allstate Premier Agency for 2014.

The award is given to agencies for “outstanding business performance and commitment to putting customers at the center of his agency’s work.”

Kajeh sells Allstate Insurance exclusively.

McCarthy building donates bikes, wagons

The Southern California Division of McCarthy Building Cos. Inc, which is based in Newport Beach, marked its 150th anniversary by putting together and then donating 60 bicycles and 60 wagons to charity, according to a news release.

The donations went to children in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Diego counties. Some 300 company employees worked on the wagons during a weekend shareholder’s meeting, where the sesquicentennial was celebrated. Recipients in O.C. included kids at the Orangewood Children’s Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).
