Man who sold pot brownies to kids sentenced to 3 years

A Costa Mesa man was sentenced this week to three years in state prison for selling marijuana-laced brownies to students.

Isaac Greer, 33, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of furnishing marijuana to a minor and one count of sales of marijuana to a minor.

Police arrested Greer in March about a year after two incidents at Pomona Elementary School and TeWinkle Middle School in Costa Mesa sparked an investigation.

Students at the two schools brought brownies believed to contain pot and shared them with classmates, who became nauseous and told school officials.

Police were eventually led to Greer when parents of students at Newport Harbor High School reported a similar incident to police.

They said a drug dealer named “Clever” sold marijuana-laced treats to kids who attended the Newport Beach campus.

Early in 2014, detectives began following Greer and watched him sell marijuana to a minor, according to a statement from the Costa Mesa Police Department.

Police said he also handed out business cards to students and asked them to tell their friends about him.

When detectives searched Greer’s car, a Huntington Beach storage location and a Costa Mesa motel room where he was staying, they found more than 50 pounds of marijuana, brownie mix and the business cards, police said.
