Group installs free alarms at mobile home park

A group of Costa Mesa firefighters and emergency volunteers recently installed free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms at a Newport Boulevard mobile home park.

The group from the Fire Department and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) visited 32 dwellings in Rolling Homes on April 5 and installed more than 60 of the devices, which were donated by Home Depot. The visit followed a request by mobile home park tenants for a safety review, according to a city news release.

“This is a shining example of our firefighters, volunteers and community partnering together to insure that households are safe and prepared for emergencies,” Fire Chief Dan Stefano said in a prepared statement.

ReadyOC, the county’s emergency preparedness program, also gave Rolling Homes residents information on how to make their own emergency kits and improve their ability to recover from a man-made or natural disaster, according to the release.
