Art display depicts Iraqi refugees

The Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project launched “Breathe Free,” a “guerrilla” art campaign, at UC Irvine and 14 other locations nationwide this week.

The exhibit, which was displayed Monday at UCI’s School of Law, consists of 14 large portraits of Iraqi refugees who are now safely in America as a result of IRAP’s efforts.

IRAP, based at the Urban Justice Center in New York, has helped resettle more than 3,000 refugees and has partnered with Congress to obtain an additional 13,500 visas for Iraqis and Afghans who aided U.S. military efforts in their native countries and now live in fear for their lives, according to Alex McIntosh, a UCI law student.
