A new sandwich shop opening on the Balboa Peninsula was inspired by the founders’ love of surfing sessions and sandwiches.
Sessions Sandwiches officially opens at 2823 Newport Blvd. on April 16.
The eatery will be open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, boasting not only 16 hot and cold sandwiches — like the Summer Zephyr with fresh mozzarella, marinated tomato, basil aioli, baby arugula and pickled onion on toasted ciabatta — but also four gourmet hot dogs, including The Mad Dog, a 10-inch, third of a pound hot dog on an authentic Chicago-style poppy seed bun topped with cheddar, bacon guacamole and pickled onions.
For breakfast, patrons can nosh on a specialty pastry while visiting the full coffee bar, featuring Kean Coffee and espresso.
