Biz News: South Coast Metro Alliance names new president

David Rowley, who works in commercial real estate, has been named president of the South Coast Metro Alliance.

The business group serves building owners and property managers in the commercial sector along and around the Costa Mesa-Santa Ana border near South Coast Plaza.

Rowley is a real estate veteran with 20 years of experience, according to a news release. He serves as vice president at Davis Partners and previously worked at Spieker Properties.

Market Place getting TAPS

TAPS Fish House & Brewery, which has locations in Brea and Corona, plans to open at The Market Place in Irvine, the Newport Beach-based Irvine Co. announced.

The restaurant will span 10,000 square feet and include a large patio and a 150-seat private dining room, according to a news release.

The seafood restaurant plans to offer 25 artisan beers on tap, six of which will be brewed at the Brea location. The Irvine restaurant will not have an on-site brewery.

Expect an early 2015 opening.

Provenance opens at Eastbluff

Provenance, a restaurant inspired by California’s wine country, has opened at Eastbluff Village Center, 2531 Eastbluff Drive.

The restaurant belongs to Executive Chef Cathy Pavlos, who opened LUCCA — a European-style bistro — in 2005 at the Quail Hill Shopping Center in Irvine.

“The new restaurant will feature a menu of fresh, flavorful ingredients that change by season, and many of which will be grown in the restaurant’s own 1,300-square-foot organic raised-bed garden that is open to guests to observe from their patio seating,” according to a news release.

Menu items will be locally and responsibly sourced, Pavlos, an Orange County native, said in a news release.

St. Croix opens new F.I. shop

St. Croix Shop is relocating its Fashion Island store to a location near Nordstrom. The retailer, which specializes in modern men’s sportswear, expects to open April 12, according to a news release.

The new location will offer the largest selection of St. Croix apparel in the region.

Natural medicine at Newport Center

Husband and wife team Drs. Peter J. and Sandra Y. Muran have opened Longevity Healthcare at 180 Newport Center Drive, Suite 160.

The practice will specialize in functional medicine, sometimes called natural medicine. The couple has done research into breast-cancer prevention.

“Pete and Sandy Muran, in conjunction with the University of Nebraska, conduct original research on measurably reducing the risk for breast cancer,” according to a news release. “This research has been a springboard to the development of AVERTi, Advanced Verified Early Risk Technology, for the prevention of breast cancer.”

An open house will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
