Political Landscape: Election endorsements roll in

The following is a roundup of news regarding the races for seats on the Orange County Board of Education and the Board of Supervisors, as well as for the 74th Assembly District.

Orange County Board of Education

The Republican Party of Orange County and the California Republican Assembly have endorsed businessman Tom Pollitt in his run for the District 2 seat on the Orange County Board of Education, according to a news release.

Pollitt is running against incumbent David Boyd. The seat serves Cypress, Huntington Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, Seal Beach, Stanton, Sunset Beach, Westminster and portions of Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley and Garden Grove.

Supervisor

Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens and Dist. Atty. Tony Rackauckas have endorsed Michelle Steel in her campaign for the District 2 seat on the Orange County Board of Supervisors, according to a news release.

District 2 includes Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Seal Beach and portions of Fountain Valley.

Steel, a Republican, is running against Coast Community College District Trustee Jim Moreno, a Democrat, Assemblyman Allan Mansoor (R-Costa Mesa) and Huntington Beach City Councilman Joe Carchio, also a Republican.

74th Assembly District:

Women in Leadership — a bipartisan political action committee formed to support pro-abortion-rights female candidates for local, regional and statewide office — has joined Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Lakewood) and Coast Community College District Board Trustee Lorraine Prinsky in endorsing Anila Ali, a middle school teacher, in her race for 74th Assembly District, according to a news release.

The 74th district includes Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods and Newport Beach.

Ali, a Democrat, is running against business owner Karina Onofre, Newport Beach City Councilman Keith Curry, businessman Emanuel Patrascu and Huntington Beach Mayor Matthew Harper.
