Costa Mesa’s third annual Mayor’s Celebration dinner will honor two local businessmen for their contributions to the city.

The event, which raises funds for local arts education programs, is scheduled for May 14 at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

“I am delighted to continue this celebration that showcases the best of Costa Mesa and helps to ensure that the arts will be an integral part of our community for generations to come,” Mayor Steve Mensinger said.

The Mayor’s Award will go to Wilbur H. Smith III, founder of Greenlaw Partners, an Irvine-based firm that spearheaded the revitalization of The Triangle dining and entertainment center in downtown Costa Mesa.

Paul F. Folino, former chief executive of Costa Mesa-based Emulex Corp., will receive the Art of Leadership Award. Folino is also an honorary trustee for South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa and Chapman University in Orange.

“We are fortunate to have industry leaders like Paul Folino and Will Smith in our community who have set such a great example for all of us to follow and are delighted to recognize their accomplishments at the celebration,” Kyle Woosley, Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, said in a statement.

The Mayor’s Celebration begins at 5:30 in the Samueli Theatre. Tickets are $125.

The Costa Mesa High School Madrigal Choir and jazz band will perform. Artwork by students at Costa Mesa and Estancia high schools will be displayed.

Last year’s mayor’s dinner raised nearly $25,000 for youth arts and education programs.
