Larry Agran agrees to deposition

Averting a potential appearance in Orange County Superior Court, Former Irvine mayor Larry Agran agreed to appear Friday for his subpoenaed deposition in the lingering Great Park audit.

In a special session meeting of the Irvine City Council on March 3rd, the council voted 4-1 authorizing the city attorney to take the case of Agran’s deposition before a superior court judge after Agran did not show up for a scheduled deposition on February 25th.

Agran maintains that date was never agreed upon as he negotiated with attorney Anthony Taylor of Aleshire & Wyndner, representing the city, to find an appropriate date to testify. Agran said the City Council special session was arranged as a hardball tactic to compel his testimony before he’s had adequate time to prepare.

Agran confirmed he’s scheduled to meet with Taylor in the Los Angeles office of Agran’s attorney Fred Woocher. Agran said Woocher is recovering from a medical procedure that prevents him from traveling to Orange County.
