Belles need help with the ball

Share

Women Helping Women, a nonprofit that provides supportive services, is seeking volunteers, sponsors and donations for its seventh annual Belle of the Ball event in Costa Mesa.

The Santa Ana-based organization is asking for gently used prom dresses, shoes, jewelry and purses for the ball, which takes place March 22 at Orange Coast College and will help 300 low-income, at-risk teens and foster youth. Organizers ask that the dresses already be dry-cleaned and in ready-to-wear condition.

Plus-size dresses and shoes are especially wanted, organizers said.

Materials can be dropped off at Women Helping Women’s headquarters, 1800 E. McFadden Ave., Suite 1A, Santa Ana. In Costa Mesa, they can also be left the Mesa Business Center, 711 W. 17th St., Suite A10.

The ball “is a day of empowerment where young girls spend the day at a college campus learning and experiencing just how special they are and how much more their lives can be,” according to a news release.

Volunteer and sponsorship information is available at Women Helping Women’s website, https://www.whw.org.

For more information, contact Robyn Williams at (949) 631-2333 x322 or send a email to robynw@whw.org.

The ball is co-hosted by Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa-based Girls Inc. and the Orangewood Children’s Foundation, a Santa Ana-based nonprofit whose goals include aiding abused and neglected children.
