Costa Mesa hires interim recreation manager

The city of Costa Mesa has hired an interim recreation manager while it searches for candidate to permanently fill the position.

Penny Loomer, who has overseen recreation at the city of Fullerton and the city of Yorba Linda, will start the job Feb. 11, according to a news release from Costa Mesa. Loomer has also worked as community services and recreation director, assistant city manager, and interim city manager at the city of Westminster, according to the news release.

Costa Mesa’s previous recreation manager, Bob Knapp, resigned Jan. 31.

Loomer will work about 30 hours each week earning $76.90 an hour with no benefits.
