Sage Hill gets a new president

Share

The board of trustees of Sage Hill School in Newport Coast have named Gordon McNeill president of the private high school, a position trustees created this year.

McNeill has been head of school at Sage Hill since 2008. Patricia Merz, who has been assistant head of school since 2007, will take over as head of school, according to a news release.

McNeill and Merz will assume their new roles July 1.

The board decided to realign the school’s leadership as part of a strategic plan for Sage Hill, which has seen growth in the size of its campus and in student population over the past several years.

“We see this new leadership structure as a natural evolution to the work both leaders have assumed over the past several years, and we believe our community will prosper as a result,” said Christy Marlin, chairwoman of the Sage Hill Board of Trustees.

As president, McNeill will advance the school “through the lens of its strategic priorities,” according to the release. Merz will manage the day-to-day operations of academic and school life, overseeing finances, development and admissions, it stated.
