Costa Mesa mayor strives for dialogue with residents

Costa Mesa Mayor Steve Mensinger said he is launching a “listening tour” featuring several opportunities for residents to talk with him about their hopes for the city and concerns.

“Meet the Mayor” sessions will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. the second Sunday of each month. The locations will vary. The first session is Sunday at City Hall, 77 Fair Drive.

On the third Friday of each month, Mensinger will host “Walk and Talk with the Mayor,” a 90-minute walk beginning at 5:30 a.m. in the Estancia High School parking lot, near the tennis courts, 2323 Placentia Ave.

Mensinger said he is also accessible for one-on-one coffee meetings and via email, at mayor@costamesaca.gov. Appointments or appearances can be scheduled with the City Council’s executive secretary, Sharon Rodelius, at (714) 754-5107 or sharon.rodelius@costamesaca.gov.

“I’m looking forward to listening to my fellow residents and finding out how we can continue to improve our fine city,” Mensinger, who was unanimously appointed mayor by his council colleagues last month, said in a statement. “This will be a great learning experience for me, and I know residents will be impressed at the responsiveness of their local government.”

Mensinger was appointed to the council in 2011 and elected to a four-year term in 2012. His term as mayor will end in December 2016.
