Marshall Jay Stuart February 7, 1923 - November 7, 2014

Long time Newport Beach Resident Marshall Jay Stuart died peacefully on November 7 at the age of 91, surrounded and loved by his family. He was born in New Rochelle, NY on February 7, 1923, later moving to California. He attended Santa Monica City College. He graduated from the naval academy at Columbia University and served in the Pacific theater during WWII. He was the Captain of an LST, and fought in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines. After his service, he attended and graduated from USC. In 1954 he founded Marshall Aluminum Products, later Marshall Vinyl Windows, in Los Angeles, which he moved to Orange County and later Corona. He sold his company in 2004. He and his wife Katherine loved to travel, and visited Europe, Asia, and Hawaii. All of his life, loved going to Cherry Cove in Catalina Island with his family on his boat: Inspiration. His last boat was a Duffy: Inspiration Too.

Marshall had a quick wit and a joking disposition, as everyone who knew him can attest. His compassion for others as well as his love of life made him a favorite of those who knew him. He was dedicated to swimming and regular exercise at the Balboa Bay Club. He had numerous good friends, and enjoyed spending time with the “6 O’Clockers” at the BBC. He also enjoyed games of bridge with many different groups of friends. He loved his friends, old and new.

Marshall enjoyed a loving marriage of 45 years to his Katherine, who survives him along with his son Matt, his daughter-in-law and daughter-in-heart, Tanya, his grandchildren Michael, Mason, Cora, Katy, and Alexander Marshall. His family blessed and fulfilled his life as he did theirs. He will be missed and remembered with much love.
