Lilly, Irene Harriette, passed away of natural causes on December 12, 2013 at her Huntington Beach home surrounded by her daughter Gail and family. She was born in Huntley, IL on January 21, 1922 to Ruth and Harry Hilbert. She is survived by her children, Susan West Barbus (Larry) of Prosser, WA; Jane Derbenwick (Steve) of Bethlehem, PA; John Palmer (Kathy) of Fishers, IN; Mark Palmer of Key West, FL; Jeff Lilly (Vickie) of Boise, ID; and Gail Palmer Ross (Bret) of Huntington Beach, CA. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, James “Bud” Lilly, and most recently, by her granddaughter, Erin West Formica. Irene was well known for her beautiful singing voice. Besides music, she was fond of natural beauty and enjoyed flower gardening, especially roses, She volunteered extensively over the years for the Orange County Philharmonic Society, and UC Irvine Town and Gown. She was a member and past regent of the Wm. Cabell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A celebration of life for Irene will be scheduled in 2014.
