John L Laun Jr.<br/> June 1, 1919 - October 16, 2014

Long Time Lido Isle Resident

John Laun was born in New York City in 1919. His family moved to Los Angeles in 1933, where he attended John Burroughs Junior High School, and graduated from Los Angeles High School. He graduated from UCLA, class of 1942, with a BS degree in Business.

While serving in the military in 1944, he married Gloria Gustafson, his beloved wife of 64 years.

After 4 years in US Army Ordnance, he started a retail career with Bullock’s and JW Robinson’s.

The family moved to Lido Isle in Newport Beach in 1955, were he continued to reside.

John later had a banking career with Los Angeles Federal Savings in Newport Beach as a Regional Vice President.

John passed away on October 16th, peacefully, in his home of 58 years. He is survived by his two children, John III (Susan) and Kristine Clark (Scott), his sister Gloria Marie Laun, 3 grandchildren, a niece, and 2 nephews.

His ashes have been scattered at sea.
