Janyce F. Hoagland Lorti<br/>August 13, 1938 - February 1, 2015

Janyce Florence Hoagland Lorti, was born August 13, 1938 in Denver, Colorado and died in her home in Newport Beach February 1, 2015 at age 76. Janyce will be remembered as a beautiful person who was especially devoted to her large family. She was always pleasant extending kindness, love and generosity unconditionally. She treated everyone with respect and was an excellent listener. Janyce took delight in socially associating with her fellow female professionals. However first and foremost her heart belonged to her family.

The Hanford family moved to Studio City when she was a little girl. She grew up modeling and working in her father’s Thrifty Drug Store. She was a graduate of Woodbury University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Management. She became a prominent interior decorator in the Newport Beach area although she had commissions from Palm Springs to Phoenix. Among her accomplishments was a successful company she founded with an associate, Design Tech, which conducted model home decorating services for developers of well-known communities including One Ford Road. Later on, desiring to embark on personal consulting on interior decorating, she began Design Direction. A long-time resident of Balboa Island, she was constantly in demand for interior design and furnishing from cottages to luxury beach homes. Janyce extended her expertise to a hotel in Phoenix and one in Washington, D.C. She was adept and known for decorating and furnishing homes within sixty days for anxious clients. However, her advice and efforts were always available to her family.

In February 2006, after a two-year courtship, she married Daniel Lorti, a retired aerospace engineer and international business professional who in 2003 with his partners sold their aerospace and defense corporation to Northrop Grumman and settled in Harbor Ridge and One Ford Road, Newport Beach. They were constant companions and traveled all over the world. In between, Daniel wrote and published two fictional novels.

Janyce is survived by her husband Daniel, her children Mark Eric Hoagland of Laguna Niguel, Kevin Christopher Hoagland of Irvine, and daughter Heidi Lynn Scarborough of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; sisters Donna Gant of Huntington Beach, Dorothy Bono Daley of Laguna Hills, and Debbie Draper of Oceanside; grandchildren Ryan Hoagland of Corona, Eric Hoagland of Humble, TX, Brittany Hoagland of Anaheim Hills, Michael Hoagland of Laguna Niguel, Kylee Hoagland of Dana Point, and Katie Hoagland of Laguna Niguel, and Casey and Calli Scarborough of Cabo San Lucas; and great grandchildren Jack Hoagland and Oliver Hoagland of Dana Point and Wyatt Hoagland of Corona.
