Harry Onyett Kline, 87, peacefully passed away at his Corona Del Mar, California home, on April 25, 2015, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Harry was born on September 11, 1927, in Evanston, Illinois to Harry John Kline and Frances Elizabeth Kline. Harry attended Northwestern University and served in the United States Army in Japan. After graduating from Northwestern University, Harry worked for Keystone Securities. His profound business mind propelled his successful and longstanding career with Franklin Templeton Company. Harry served as the CEO and Regional Sales Manager of Franklin Templeton Distributors, Inc. from 1980 to 1990. Harry’s career in the mutual fund industry spanned over 49 years. After retiring from Franklin Templeton, Harry served on the board of directors for Franklin Resources.

Harry’s first wife, Jean Kline, whom he shared many years of happiness, preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his brother, Richard Kline, of Evanston, Illinois.

His loving wife, Barbara, whose ardent enthusiasm and daily gifts of sunshine brought him joy in his later years, survives him. Harry is also survived by his children, Cheryl Robles of Ojai California, Kate Stephenson and husband Curt of San Diego, California, Robert Kline of Costa Mesa California, Susan K. Knoth and husband John of Del Mar, California, seven grandchildren, Leigh, Aimee. Cooper, Carly, Joe, Julieanne, Chad, and nephew, Stephen Richard Kline and wife Jacqueline and their children, Zoe and Davis, of Livermore, California, and a niece, Cynthia Brooks of Hawaii.

Besides the ever glowing sparkle in his eye, Harry will be remembered for his insatiable zest for life-Harry’s genteel, compassionate character and effervescent presence was treasured by all, but his mischievous humor is what his family and friends will miss the most. His humorous and dignified approach to living with Alzheimer’s brought those who surrounded him both laughter and tears.

In his later years, Harry loved to sit ocean side at his Corona Del Mar home, enjoying the elements of seaside living. He enjoyed watching the ever present sailboats and rowers, and he was always “the first” to spot the ever present hummingbirds surrounding his home. He loved boating and golfing, and occasionally had the pleasure of playing golf with Arnold Palmer, Payne Stewart and other esteemed golfers.

The Kline family will be forever grateful for Harry’s caregivers, Francis Ledesma, Vuong Nguyen, Jaycee Topgyal, and his doctors, Dr. James Fondren and Dr. William Shallkel, whose dedication to Harry was unsurpassable.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday May 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for Harry at Pelican Hill Resort, Newport Coast, CA immediately following the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Newport Beach California.
