All hale the chili at park’s annual cookoff

t will be a hot afternoon — in multiple ways — on Saturday, as Halecrest Park in Costa Mesa plays host to its annual Chili Cook-Off.

Those who think they have an unbeatable recipe are invited to bring at least two crock pots, plus their own table décor and condiments. The event, which also features live entertainment, takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. in the park at 3107 Killybrooke Lane.

Admission and chili are free, with beer, wine and raffle tickets for sale. Funds raised will benefit Killybrooke Elementary School’s sixth-grade outdoor science camp.
