The Orange County Museum of Art, which has long planned to relocate from its Newport Beach home to a spot near the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, has entered talks with Related California regarding the developer’s possible purchase of the property.

The Orange County Business Journal reported Monday that the museum had entered into a 90-day exclusive negotiation period with Related California over the property at 850 San Clemente Drive.

Kirsten Schmidt, the museum’s director of marketing and communications, said Tuesday that officials have no deadline for moving.

OCMA announced in 2008 that it had received in a land transfer a 1.64-acre parcel by the Segerstrom Center, Schmidt said. Officials said they do not have a cost estimate for development of the new venue.
