Robert Ormond Case, Jr.
Robert Ormond Case, Jr. (Bob) of Corona del Mar and Irvine passed away September 17 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Feb. 3, 1926 in Portland, Oregon to Evelyn and Robert O. Case, a well-known Western Fiction writer.
During WWII he served on the heavy cruiser USS Columbus, and in 1947 married Cynthia Tribou, of Wethersfield, Connecticut. By 1962 they had four children: Jennifer, Patricia, Robert Case III and Victoria.
Graduating from Yale University Cum Laude in 1949, Bob earned his Master of Electronic Engineering the next year.
His career in Aerospace and Defense included VP of Ford Aerospace and President of Ford Aeronutronic in Newport Beach. After retiring, he served on Advisory Panels for NASA and the SDIO, now known as the Missile Defense Agency. Bob also served as Consultant for NASA, the DOD, Pentagon, the Institute for Defense Analysis and the Ford Motor Company. He holds six patents including the “Electronic Computer”. He and Cindy traveled extensively until his beloved wife of 45 years, passed away in 1992.
In 1993, at an Oxford University Seminar, England, Bob met Jeanne Vestey Kirsch, of Moraga, California, also recently widowed. They were married in 1994 and enjoyed many adventure travels.
Bob was a gifted storyteller, and his grandchildren repeat his humorous stories, passing on his legacy. He treasured his family of 27, his extended family and friends, and they adored him. A wise, creative thinker, he could see all sides of a problem. A dedicated volunteer, he was active at Regents Point, St. Mark Presbyterian Church and William Mason Park. Bob is remembered as: a gentleman, patient, understanding, caring and compassionate, and we will all miss his love.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Jeanne; the Biggins family: Jenni and Les, Matt, Kelly and great granddaughter Ava; Mark and Brian; Bob, Anna and Emily Kirsch; Trish Case; Tori, Rebecca and Sarah Case; Randell, LuAnn, Taylor, Bryn, Brianica, Elle, Quinn and Fynn Kirsch; Rob, Jeanne, Madeline, Samantha, and Robert O. Case IV.
The Memorial Service will be Saturday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 2200 San Joaquin Hills Road, Newport Beach. In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family would appreciate contributions to St Mark, Regents Point, the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
