Surrounded by loved ones, following the reading of Romans 8:35, 37-39, Billie “Teenie” Moody Rice transitioned from this life to the next in a delicate, peaceful way. In her final moments, she heard reassuring words from her children, a family prayer, and the hymn, Amazing Grace. Teenie ended a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on the evening of March 17th.

Born in Groesbeck on September 18, 1926 to Guy and Bonnie Moody, Teenie grew up in Central Texas. She met and married Inman “Windell” Rice upon his completion of Naval Service during WW II.

The Rice’s immigrated to California in the 50’s, where they raised their two sons, Rob and Chris. During the 70’s, they moved back to their beloved Texas where they lived in the Tyler area where she was an active member of The Eastern Star. Teenie worked as a teacher’s aid in the Chapel Hill school district until moving to Costa Mesa, CA. She worked part-time at The Broadway and later at Macy’s. Teenie was an avid Lakers and Dodgers fan, and never forgot her strong love of the Dallas Cowboys.

Teenie was preceded in death by her husband Windell. She is survived by sons, Rob (Candace) and Chris (Sharon), grandchildren, Jeff, Travis, Bryan, Patrick and Allison and sister – Norvelle Bourdo, as well as 10 great-grandchildren – who will dearly miss Grandmas’s homemade candy and chocolate chip cookies.

The Family and friends will celebrate her life on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 2:00pm at the home of Rob and Candace Rice. We will always remember her spunk and independence.

The family would ask for donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers, at https://www.alz.org/join_the_cause_donate.asp.
