A man robbed a Bank of America at 3300 E. Coast Hwy. in Corona del Mar on Thursday morning, Newport Beach police said.
The call came about 9:30 a.m., NBPD spokeswoman Kathy Lowe said.
The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash after he allegedly passed a teller a note demanding that the teller empty the money drawer, according to police.
No weapons were used during the robbery, Lowe said.
Police said the suspect, described as a 25- to 30-year-old, 6-foot tall white man wearing a gray "DC" sweatshirt, dark pants and dark sunglasses, left through the back door.
An Orange County Sheriff's Department helicopter helped search the area for about 25 minutes after the robbery, Lowe said.
