HELEN MYERS ANDERSON

Helen Amanda Hollenbeck was born at home on April 24, 1910 to Libby and Sherman Hollenbeck in Los Angeles, California. Her parents were very faithful in their religion and attended church every Sunday. She passed away at home on May 30, 2012. She was 102 years old.
Helen graduated from Manuel Arts High School in Los Angeles in 1928. She took her first job as an executive assistant to Mr. Gillmore at Gillmore Oil Company.
She met her husband, Maurice Irwin Myers and they married in the spring of 1938. They raised three loving daughters, Nancy, Melinda and Marilyn in Downey, California. She was an active member of Assistance League of Downey, Women’s Club of Downey, La Danza Couples Dancing Group in the 1940’s and 1950’s, First Presbyterian Church of Downey and a 68 year member of P.E.O. (Chapter TS).
Helen and Maurice enjoyed a wonderful life together with family and friends. Her hobbies included, traveling the world, golfing in the desert, playing bridge and needlepointing. Maurice passed away in 1983.
Helen married a longtime friend of the family, George Mc Michael Anderson and moved to Newport Beach in 1985. They enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, were members of Big Canyon Country Club and founding donors of the Orange County Performing Arts Center. George passed away in 1991.
Helen moved to Westlake Village in 2002 to live with her daughter, Melinda and her son-law Ray Brownfield. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Helen will always be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt whom everyone loved to be around. She was a joy to everyone she met with her sparkling blue eyes and beautiful warm smile.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Libby and Sherman Hollenbeck, her husbands, Maurice Irwin Myers and George Mc Michael Anderson, her brother, William Henry Hollenbeck and her grandson, David Maurice Johnson and son in-laws Ted Johnson and George Stang.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Stang of St. Petersburg, FL, Melinda Brownfield (Ray) of Westlake Village, CA, Marilyn Johnson Elder (Bruce) of Henderson, NV, her grandchildren; Robert Stang (Diane) of North Carolina, Richard Stang (Anne) of St. Petersburg, FL, Kenneth Johnson of Anaheim, CA, Karen Willett (Jay) of Ennis, MT, Bradley Stang of Ft. Lauderdale,FL, Sheryl Brownfield of Westlake Village, CA, Susan Beall (Robert) of Laguna Beach, CA, Mark Stang of Denver, CO and Brian Johnson of Henderson, NV. She has 12 great grandchildren and one great great grand daughter.
She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Services will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 32111 Watergate Road, Westlake Village, CA 91361 on Jun 11, 2012 at 2:00 in the afternoon.
The family greatly appreciates the loving care given by Carmen, Cely, Ermalinda and the Buena Vista Hospice Care Group.
