Allan “Duke” J. Libby August 6, 1934 - March 30, 2014

Allan J. Libby, also lovingly known as “Duke” passed away on Sunday March 30th at the age of 79 while on a family vacation in Cancun, Mexico.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, A.J. Duke Libby launched a thirty year career in international aviation activities in 1956 as a US Navy jet and helicopter pilot. After six years in the Navy, he returned to college and obtained his graduate degree in foreign trade. He then began a long career in aerospace as a production test pilot and sales engineer for several aircraft manufacturers. In 1990, he retired from the McDonnell Douglass Helicopter Company, where he had been in charge of the company’s activities in Latin America. Aviation was not only his career but an avid pastime. As an aficionado of both aviation and Latin America, Duke authored and published his own book, “Uniform Romeo” loosely based on the events, locales and characters in his life.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Shila Libby, uncle Cecil Sills, his 4 step children, 4 grand children, 2 great grand children, his nephews, niece and many cousins.

A funeral service in his memory will be held on April 10th, 10:00 a.m. @ Pacific View Memorial Park Chapel, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, CA 92625.
