O.C. Fair makes Google list

Share

The Orange County Fair was the fifth most searched term on Google in the Los Angeles area this year, the company announced in its annual Zeitgeist report highlighting search trends online.

The fair beat out the Los Angeles County Fair (sixth) and the Los Angeles Times (seventh) among others in the region.

Not surprisingly, “Sigalert,” a term used to describe traffic conditions on Southern California’s winding freeways, was the top search term in 2011.

The fair’s prominence on the list is perhaps another indicator of the event’s growing popularity. The fair had its most successful month to date in 2011, and Google data shows that when the fair began in July, searches for the fair peaked.

The fair’s searches peaked the first week of the fair, but were almost equaled the following week when pop star Justin Bieber surprised singer/girlfriend Selena Gomez as she was performing there.

The state’s unemployment office, Magic Mountain amusement park and Catalina Island were the second through fourth most searched items in the region, respectively.
