The city of Irvine will host a community meeting about school safety at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Irvine High School Theater, 4321 Walnut Ave.

After Friday's shooting in Connecticut, which killed 28 people including 20 schoolchildren, Irvine Mayor Steven Choi has invited school superintendents and police to talk about their procedures, equipment and training.

Irvine Unified School District Supt. Terry Walker, Tustin Unified School District Supt. Gregory Franklin, and Irvine Police Chief Dave Maggard and Lt. Dave Klug will be on hand to speak and answer questions.

The program will be taped and aired on ICTV-Channel — 30 for Cox subscribers and Channel 99 for U-Verse subscribers. It will also be available on the city's homepage, cityofirvine.org.
