Water district recognizes Camp’s sustainability efforts

Share

Mesa Consolidated Water District has honored the Camp and its developer for their sustainability practices.

Shaheen Sadeghi’s alternatively nonconformist shopping center in Costa Mesa received the Water Use Efficiency Award for its efforts that include having drought-tolerant landscaping, a percolation system that captures onsite stormwater and a grass roof that improves the quality of the captured stormwater, according to a news release.

“Congratulations to the Camp, a cultural, economic, educational and environmental contributor to our community,” district board President Fred R. Bockmiller said in a prepared statement.

The Camp on Bristol Street has been a pioneer in water-wise initiatives, according to Mesa Water officials. The center’s other sustainability efforts include a community agriculture program and tenants that sell environmentally conscious products, services and food.

Mesa Water, founded in 1960, serves John Wayne Airport, most of Costa Mesa and portions of Newport Beach.
