CdM man killed crossing street

A 71-year-old Corona del Mar man was killed after a car struck him as he crossed San Joaquin Hills Road in Newport Beach about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Ghorbanali Norouzian was transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana where he died about 8:30 p.m., according to the Orange County coroner’s office.

Newport Beach police said two pedestrians were crossing northbound across the eastbound lanes of San Joaquin Hills Road between MacArthur Boulevard and San Miguel Road.

According to a preliminary investigation, they were outside of a crosswalk when a 2005 black Porsche Carrera traveling eastbound struck Norouzian, police said.

The other pedestrian was uninjured.

A 58-year-old male from Newport Beach who was driving the Porsche remained at the scene and was not cited or arrested, police said.
