With only a week and a half left in the month and the second-place team on their heels, things look to only get harrier for Newport-Mesa’s Team Nuclear as it goes into the final days of Movember.

According to the Movember website — the official page of the November fundraiser that asks men to fundraiser while growing our their mustaches for an entire month to raise awareness for men’s health issues — Team Nuclear is the top fundraiser in the U.S., with $58,877 raised through Monday.

The team consists of 89 members. It’s a mix of local businessmen, friends and city officials, including Costa Mesa Planning Commissioner Jim Fitzpatrick, Mayor Gary Monahan, and Councilmen Steve Mensinger and Jim Righeimer.
