AAA has awarded the 2011 Five Diamond classification to the Island Hotel Newport Beach for its 19th consecutive year, according to a hotel press release this week.

Additionally, the hotel has received the Forbes Travel Guide’s 2011 Four Star distinction twice; both the hotel and the spa at the Island Hotel were recognized for superior service and quality.

These awards indicate the diligence of an extraordinarily talented and dedicated team of professionals, according to a prepared statement from Richard R. Evanich, managing director of the Island Hotel.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by both AAA and Forbes,” Evanich said. “Both set an exacting standard for excellence in the luxury hotel arena, and we are proud of the hard work of our staff.”

Owned by the Irvine Co., the hotel features amenities such as Palm Terrace Restaurant & Lounge, a 4,000-square-foot spa, a 3,000-square-foot resort-style pool, a fitness center and two tennis courts.
