Police on Thursday identified a woman killed in a house fire near the Back Bay as Mary Louise Phillips.
Firefighters discovered the 90-year-old woman's body in her Heather Lane home when responding to a fire reported about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said.
Newport Beach and Costa Mesa firefighters put out the blaze by 11:18 a.m., according to Newport Beach fire Battalion Chief Chip Duncan.
The fire was ruled an accident, and was most likely electrical in nature, according to Newport Beach police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.
