Construction workers are wielding and welding custom-fabricated steel for Newport Beach’s new City Hall office building, and are almost finished with the adjacent 450-space parking structure. The city’s $130-million-plus Civic Center project is on schedule, and mostly on budget, according to the Public Works Department. Crews are still working on the parking structure’s elevator, safety cable railing, lighting and external architectural details. They have also begun to install foundations for wetlands bridges in the center’s park.
