Pelican Hill Resort announced last week the hiring of a new resident manager to oversee the 504-acre property’s operations team.

Donald Stamets, former hotel manager for the Ritz-Carlton’s Palm Beach and South Beach locations in Florida, will lead multiple divisions, including spa, engineering, bungalow and villa accommodations, as well as food and beverage.

“In our continuous quest to provide personalized service and unprecedented experiences to visitors and locals alike, we welcome leaders like Donald to our team of passionate, talented and committed hospitality professionals,” Giuseppe Lama, managing director of Pelican Hill Resort, said in a prepared statement. “With deep experience in numerous facets of hospitality, Donald brings a passion for excellent service, inspired management approach, enthusiasm and creativity to Pelican Hill.”

Stamet’s new position was tailored to fit the needs of the resort, which has experienced increased activity and clientele as it approaches its two-year anniversary, said Kate Starr, resort public relations manager.

Earlier in his career, Stamets specialized in catering, conference services and event management for several Ritz-Carlton Hotel properties nationwide.

Originally from New Jersey, Stamets earned a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from Johnson and Wales University. He lives in Laguna Niguel.
