Irvine fundraiser benefits program helping homeless

Share

One Step, an Irvine-based nonprofit Christian organization seeking to end homelessness for single-parent families in South Orange County, will hold a fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Wyndham Orange County Airport, 17941 Von Karman Ave., Irvine.

The organization will update attendees on their efforts to house families and share their plans to prevent homelessness. One Step seeks to meet a wide range of needs in the community, including physical, financial, emotional and spiritual, through individual volunteers and community partners. Individuals are encouraged to help coach struggling single parents, host a family for up to 30 days, or to participate in quarterly service projects.

One Step also operates Our House, a condominium used to house single-parent families with teenages for a nine-month period, during which they work with other parents, a financial counselor, career coach and life skills partner to get back on their feet. Funds raised Saturday will be used to cover costs for Our House.
