Republican Party endorses Reno

The California Republican Party this week endorsed Newport Beach City Council candidate Ed Reno.

Reno, who is running for the District 3 seat being vacated by Don Webb, has said his political connections will help him with John Wayne Airport environmental impact negotiations and other city issues.

He’s a lobbyist for the drugmaker Allergan.

Reno is also running on a public employee pension-reform platform.

“The CRP’s endorsement is validation that fiscal conservatives are clearly supporting my campaign,” he said in a statement.

His opponent in the race is Rush Hill, a well-known City Hall insider.
