COSTA MESA —The Capital Grille, with more than 40 locations nationwide, will open another location Oct. 18 at South Coast Plaza.

This will be the Orlando, Fla.-based restaurant chain’s second California location, the first being in Beverly Hills. The restaurant is known for its aged steaks and extensive wine list.

“We are thrilled to join the Orange County community,” John Martin, president of The Capital Grille, said in a statement.

The Capital Grille will host a special event before the restaurant opens to the public. In honor of the Festival of Children Foundation and its founder, Sandy Segerstrom Daniels, the restaurant will make a donation to the organization that is hosting a month-long festival at South Coast Plaza.

Orange County foodies will surely appreciate the diverse and richly flavored menu, which features kona-crusted dry-aged sirloin, seared citrus-glazed salmon, lobster mac n’ cheese and flourless chocolate espresso cake.

Earlier in the summer, The Capital Grille was named one of the top 50 American restaurants in the Diner’s Choice Awards by Open Table. The chain also achieved national recognition for its wine list, which has more than 350 choices. Wine Spectator Magazine recently awarded the Capital Grille with the “Achievement of Excellence Award.”

The restaurant offers wine lockers for lease.

“We look forward to the area visitors, residents and business professionals embracing us as a new local dining choice and the newest addition to the top retail destination in the region,” Martin said.
