Costa Mesa police search for murder suspect
Police on Tuesday said they were searching for a man suspected of stabbing another man to death in a Costa Mesa home.
Adolph Mireles, 38, of Huntington Beach allegedly killed the unnamed victim about 6 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Atlanta Way, according to police.
Mireles, who police said was recently released from prison, was reportedly driving a gray 2011 Toyota Corolla that has California license plate No. 6PGF988.
Police described Mireles as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a heavy build, goatee and mustache. In a photo provided by police, he appeared to be Latino with dark hair and brown eyes.
Mireles is considered armed and dangerous.
Police described the victim as a 43-year-old Long Beach resident. They did not release his name, pending family notification, according to Costa Mesa police Sgt. Ed Everett.
Investigators believe Mireles and the victim had fought over a relationship with the same woman, Everett said.
The victim was at the home visiting a woman he had a relationship with, according to police.

Crime scene
Costa Mesa police and firefighters discovered the stabbing victim in the living room of the home. He was bleeding from multiple stab wounds to his upper torso and died at the scene.
Yellow police tape surrounded the one-story home on Atlanta Way, a quiet cul-de-sac off of Fairview Road between Baker Street and the San Diego (405) Freeway.
Neighbors appeared shaken at the news of the stabbing.
One resident said he had suspected drug activity at the home, adding that neighbors have filed numerous complaints with police about suspicious activity.
“Cars come and go all the time,” said John Melendes, 48, who lives three doors down.
Rick Huffman, 65, who lives next door, said the home is owned by a husband and wife who have two sons of elementary- and middle-school age.
Melendes said the family began renting out a room after having financial trouble. Huffman described the male renter as “kind of a big guy, tattooed,” who lived with his girlfriend.
Although Huffman didn’t hear any commotion, he said other neighbors told him they heard yelling and a fight taking place in the house’s side yard.
