Street maintenance to delay JWA traffic

Share

Those planning to visit John Wayne Airport this weekend should expect delays.

Portions of MacArthur Boulevard will be narrowed Saturday and Sunday to allow for street maintenance resurfacing by Irvine’s Public Works Department. According to a press release, the roadway system at the airport is undergoing seismic remediation to ensure safety on the upper-level roadway.

The affected areas are next to JWA’s main entrance and exit. A portion of the airport’s lower-level roadway will also be narrowed to allow continued construction of pillars supporting the upper-level roadway. Portions of the white passenger pickup lanes and curb will also be narrowed.

Airport staff encourages passengers and visitors to plan ahead, especially between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. when there is heavy traffic on the lower-level roadway.

Instead of using the roadway, those picking up passengers are encouraged to park in the two-hour parking spaces on the lower level of parking structures A1, B2 and C, while waiting.
