Police: Missing woman may have committed suicide

Police have determined that a Long Beach woman whose body was discovered in the trunk of her car in Irvine may have committed suicide, police said.

Anna Oung, 31, suffered from postpartum psychosis after giving birth to her first child three months ago, the Irvine Police Department said.

Family members told police that they prefer the media refer to Anna by her first name to “reflect the nature of her personality.”

Anna’s husband discovered her car in a residential neighborhood, near Beach Tree Lane and University Drive, just after 11 p.m. Tuesday. He used his cell phone to find the car a few miles from her workplace, also in Irvine.

Police opened the trunk and found her body, purse and keys.

Police said there were “visible signs of injury” to her body.

The Orange County coroner’s office is continuing its investigation into Anna’s death.

Reached at their Long Beach home, a relative said the family did not wish to comment yet.
