All the candidates who intend to run for this November’s Newport Beach and Costa Mesa City Council elections have submitted their papers:

In Newport, architect Rush Hill and pharmaceutical executive Ed Reno will compete for the District 3 council seat, which is being vacated by termed-out Councilman Don Webb; Mark Tabbert, an environmentalist and financial adviser, will challenge incumbent Leslie Daigle to represent District 4; and Nancy Gardner and Mike Henn will run unopposed for Districts 1 and 6, respectively.

In Costa Mesa, four candidates and one incumbent have filed papers to run for two open seats: Councilwoman Wendy Leece, who’s running for her second term; Sue Lester, a business owner, who’s currently suing the city over its ban of medical marijuana dispensaries; Chris McEvoy, a high school math teacher; and Planning Commissioner Jim Righeimer have all been qualified to run.

Chad Petschl, who could not be reached, filed his paperwork Friday. Petschl’s qualification is still pending, according to the city clerk’s office. The second open seat belongs to Mayor Allan Mansoor, who’s termed out and running for the California 68th Assembly District seat.
