Hoag, UCI Medical Center ranked on best hospitals list

Hoag Hospital was ranked No. 13 in the state and No. 7 in the Los Angeles area, according to a list of the best hospitals of 2013 created by U.S. News & World Report.

Hoag ranked as high-performing in eight categories: cancer, geriatrics, nephrology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, gynecology, neurology and neurosurgery, and urology, according to the Best Hospitals 2013 report.

Hoag ranked No. 43 compared with other hospitals across the nation for orthopedics.

UC Irvine Medical Center ranked No. 11 in California and No. 5 in the Los Angeles area, and placed No. 35 compared with other hospitals nationally for its geriatrics care, according to the report.
