One injured, family displaced after Costa Mesa fire

COSTA MESA — One person was sent to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries after an apartment fire early Sunday morning, police and fire officials said.

Damages from the fire were estimated to be about $75,000. Three adults and a child were displaced.

About 1:03 a.m. Sunday, the Costa Mesa Fire Department got a call about a structure fire at 666 W. 18th St., and 26 firefighters responded to the blaze, according to a news release from police.

Four engines, a truck, paramedic unit, battalion chief and heavy rescue squad were on scene, the release said. Fire department personnel arrived at the fire within three minutes of it being reported.

The Red Cross also responded to provide living arrangements for the family, said Costa Mesa Fire Battalion Chief Kevin Diamond.
