The family of a 14-year-old girl who was killed in a Memorial Day weekend crash last year plans to hold a memorial in her honor Tuesday night.

Ashton Sweet, of Irvine, was killed after a car she was traveling in with three friends heading home from a birthday party collided with a truck being driven by an allegedly drunk driver at the intersection of Culver Drive and Irvine Boulevard on May 29 last year. The teen, who was a cheerleader, was taken off life support two days after the accident.

Police arrested Austin Jeffrey Farley, now 27, at the scene, and the Irvine man currently faces felony charges of murder, driving while under the influence and having a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher, according to court records. His next court date is June 22.
