Make a Splash

As per tradition, Newport Dunes & Marina, 11331 Back Bay Drive, Newport Beach, is opening its Aquatic Water Park this weekend — and is planning the biggest Memorial Day Weekend celebration in its history. Highland Hijinx

The annual Scots Fest, a Scottish festival of entertainment, food and culture, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Orange County Fair & Event Center, 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa. Enjoy the United Scottish Society’s Highland Games and Gathering, including massed bands at noon Saturday and 5 p.m. both days; a memorial service at 10 a.m. Sunday; highland dancing; traditional Highland games like the caber toss; and live music. Tickets are $18 for adults (one day); $16 for seniors 65 and older and students with ID; and $5 for kids ages 5 to 12. Children 4 and younger get in free, as do active armed forces in uniform with ID.
