Harbor’s pep squad wins national awards

The Newport Harbor High School pep squad swept nationals this week, walking away with two national titles.

The school won the national championship title in the varsity cheer and mascot divisions, and took second place in the varsity pom pom dance division at the Sharp International Cheerleading Championships at the Cashman Event Center in Las Vegas.

Harbor’s cheer team also was recognized with the overall Grand Championship Award, beating out more than 20 other high school at the national event.
