John Wayne Airport passengers should soon be able to jet off to Mexico City and Cabo San Lucas.

AirTran Airways, a recently acquired subsidiary of Southwest Airlines, is set to offer the flights starting June 3.

Flights to Mexico City are still subject to Mexican government approval, according to a news release.

“We are thrilled that AirTran Airways is bringing Orange County our first-ever nonstop service to Mexico,” Airport Director Alan L. Murphy said in a prepared statement. “Our recently opened Terminal C, along with beautiful and efficient new international arrivals facilities, will make JWA the airport of choice this summer for travel to Mexico, Canada or any one of our 20 nonstop destinations.”

AirTran Airways is set to serve passengers from Terminal C, which will carry the AirTran name on signage and aircraft until its integration with Southwest is complete, according to the release.
