Premiere date set for ‘Arrested’ return

Netflix has announced that the 15-episode fourth season of “Arrested Development” will premiere at 12:01 a.m. PST May 26. The show, which centers on the formerly wealthy, dysfunctional Bluth family and their frozen banana stand, is predominantly set in and around Newport Beach. The banana stand is based in part on the famous frozen bananas sold on Balboa Island to this day.

The imminent season of “Arrested Development,” which earned an Emmy for outstanding comedy series when it first aired, will feature an additional episode splaying Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, Michael Cera, David Cross and others across screens worldwide. It was previously reported there would be 14 new episodes.

One episode is reportedly set at UC Irvine but was filmed at Occidental College, according to a 2012 L.A. Times article.

The announcement that the show would return with all new episodes on Netflix first came in 2011.

The show can be viewed in every territory, including the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Latin America, where Netflix is available. Fans will be treated to all the episodes, at the same time, without needing to break for commercials.

The wildly popular sitcom was created by Mitchell Hurwitz and aired for three seasons, between 2003 and 2006, on the Fox network.
