A dog died and a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries early March 31 after they were rear-ended by another car on Irvine Boulevard, Irvine police said.

Brad Marsicano, 30, of Mission Viejo, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, Lt. Julia Engen said Monday. Marsicano was driving a Toyota 4Runner when he reportedly rear-ended a Mazda 3 hatchback while it was stopped about 1:20 a.m. March 31 on Irvine Boulevard and Sand Canyon Avenue, according to police.

A man, woman and two dogs were in the Mazda. One dog died and the 29-year-old male passenger of the Mazda suffered serious injuries while the 27-year-old female driver appeared to have non-life-threatening injures, Engen said. Both were from Mission Viejo.
