Costa Mesa police arrested three Orange County residents on suspicion of stealing a car and using it to find drugs, authorities said Thursday.

After pulling over a 1995 Toyota Camry for expired registration, Officer Crystal Rodriguez detained Jay Flamm, 22, of Corona del Mar, at gunpoint as the driver, Lori Fisher, 20, of Garden Grove, and front passenger, Andrew Emerson, 22, of Newport Beach, fled, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

Police arrested Fisher within a block of the Grant Boys parking lot on Newport Boulevard where Rodriguez had pulled the car over, Lt. Greg Scott said.

Passersby detained Emerson as he tried to scale a nearby wall, Scott said. He was taken to Hoag Hospital before heading to Orange County Jail.

Police said the car was reported stolen from Brea on Tuesday. The three suspects drove the Camry around Wednesday looking for drugs, according to police. Authorities declined to comment on where the suspects had been driving.

Emerson was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and evading police, and he had a drug warrant out for his arrest, according to police.

Flamm was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and also had a drug-related warrant out for his arrest, police said. Fisher was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, being under the influence of drugs, having drug paraphernalia and evading police, police said, adding that she also had a drug-related warrant out for her arrest.
